I'd like to suggest a column where we could remind people of good condo etiquette, what each of us can do to help to take care of our building and respect our neighbours. Format could be a simple list of 5 tips. Invite residents to submit their ideas or pet peeves.

1. What to recycle or not. For example I've seen pillows and potted plants in the bins.
2. Hold your door as it closes so it doesn't bang shut

Hi Stan,

I'm glad to report that the Board has been made aware of this issue and a site meeting has been held on Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2011. The meeting has been attended by four of the Directors, the general contractor and the team of interior designers. The additional oak veneer panelling will be re-done as this was not acceptable.

Many thanks for your input.

On Friday of last week, the people doing the renovating started something, which not only appears to be an after thought but the way are doing it, it now looks like an after thought. It is the placing of wood alongside each door post. On the 17th floor (I have not checked other floors), the new baseboard was already installed. So instead of the new wood going all the way to the floor, which aesthetically might have looked attractive, it was taken down to the top of the new baseboard - looking very much as an unattractive last-minute add on.

Good morning Benjamin,

It would be pretty hard not to agree that the planning by the Rogers deployment crew was not what the owners/residents expected. Unfortunately, it is an issue which the Corporation (Board of Directors, Services Committee and Management) had no control over it. As you might be aware by now, we posted notices around 5:15 pm yesterday to inform our residents that Rogers has added one more day to clear the backlog of installations.

On Thursday, September 15, 2011 notices will be posted to inform the residents that any suite which has not picked-up the boxes can do so at any Rogers centre or ask to have the boxes delivered to the site. The installation would have to be done by the individuals as there would be a charge if a Rogers technician would be sent out to do the set-up.

As far as the two pieces of ID requirement is concerned the letter that was sent to each unit noted this detail.

Thank you,

Just my two cents. This whole installation scheme has been extremely poorly organized. I have to work during the day so I don't get to go to these things until I finish. Yesterday at 7 I was told to go away because they had no more time. Today the line was really long and with all the hassling from other tenants, the general long wait times, I just couldn't stick around because I have to go off for a course. I for one will have to go to a Rogers store myself and get the boxes myself. It would have been helpful had it been noted that people needed to bring two pieces of ID as well. There was no shortage of people that had to leave and go back and grab ID.

The Board has now had well over a month to make a final decision on the renovation project - are they ready to share this decision with us? It really would be nice to know to what extent changes have been put in place that reflect the majority wishes of the unit owners, particularly those who put a lot of time into expressing their support, their objections as well as their recommendations for the final model to be used for the renovation project. I appreciate that at some time a final decision has to be made. Nevertheless this is not a simple decision that once implemented, we can continue to live in the building unaware of what the change was. This may be true for changes such as the boilers, the freezer unit and the pipes but not for something that is going to be visible and noticeable each and every day.

Attila - I am a little perplexed - in composing your response you do not appear to have read my comment very closely. What I said was that owners were only invited to submit designs of their own and that that is not the same as being invited to participate in the process or attend meetings, which has still not occurred. I am very interested in participating but I do not assert that I am expert enough or have strong enough opinions on what should be done that I would submit my own design. I, and I think many others, assumed that they would have a chance to see what had been submitted and what was being potentially newly recommended by the designer at a meeting format without having to submit their own designs. When such a notice of meeting is given, the residents can "hold up their end of the bargain" as you have stated. I trust that will be sometime soon.

Good morning Kevin,

I respectfully disagree with your statement. Following the Requisitioned Meeting of December 1, 2010 individual owners and a group of owners have submitted ideas, pictures, recommendations, samples, etc. that have then been forwarded to the interior designer. Over 100 owners were involved in the requisitioned meeting and many have been quite firm in expressing their will to be involved with the renovation. Only 18 owners have taken the time to keep their end of the bargain which was indeed disappointing.

I am quiet perplexed at the information dated Jan. 12. Owners were never advised of an opportunity to "take part in the process" that is mentioned in this entry. They were only allowed to submit designs of their own - just because you don't have a design of your own does not mean you do not want to attend meetings or take part in this process that is being referred to. The editorial comment of the board finding involvement very disappointing seems to be out of place and inappropriate.

Hi Zack,

The Board and management has already started the process re: the bulk cable TV contract and we will definitely be looking at all the options available on the market.
